We finished travelling down the 'Romantische Strasse' with a visit to the castles of King Ludwig and his parents near Schwangau. Hohenshwangau, the parents castle, was cool and where the family lived. Neuschwangstein was the one Ludwig was building when he was 'gotten rid of' assumed by his family because he was busy spending the family fortune on building not 1 but 5 castles here and there in Bavaria. This castle had 16 rooms of 109 completed and it was a cool place to visit. One of the rooms was done out like a cave.
From Fussen at the end of the romantic road we headed onto the 'Alpinstrasse' which wound along the Bavarian side of the alps which rise from very flat valleys and go straight up...
