Home built with suicide shift

Home built with suicide shift

To Seattle  22nd Friday

We missed a bit of the scenery up to Seattle, since it was night, however Carol was up with the sparrows (which have been surprisingly absent) to be greeted with pine forests and snow capped mountains in the background. Kent slept til midmorning, then it was Carol's turn to catch up with some more sleep. Sleep is often interrupted on a train due to stops, with people boarding and disembarking, so we let ourselves sleep when we can while travelling, rather than try and stick to a routine. The country side varied from vast flat plains edged with mountains, small cattle herds in large farms, picturesque tree-lined lakes, to large rivers with cities on their banks.

We arrived after 9pm in Seattle to be greeted by Gena and Jeshua, who had couchsurfed (parked their van in our driveway for the night actually) with us in Rotorua. Back to Jeshusa's place for a decent night's sleep!

Seattle, Washington

23rd Saturday

Gena and Jeshua spent the morning with us, showing us some of the sights of Seattle. Seattle is a city that has many waterways and lakes. After saying our goodbyes around midday, we walked around a little of the city, where we saw a sand sculpture competition.

We took the monorail to the park at Seattle Center, all the attractions were beyond our budget, so after looking around we went back to the harbour front and visited the local farmer's market. It was full of people, but nothing of interest to either of us, so made our way to the Amtrak station to catch our 4.45pm train to East Glacier, Montana.
