Back home

NEW ZEALAND | Monday, 14 August 2017 | Views [677]

The trip from Memphis to Houston was uneventful and really not that interesting. It was great to spend a couple of days with my sister and husband and also got to visit with one of my oldest brothers and some of his whanau.

After arriving back in New Zealand I went straight to Auckland to babysit my daughters house, 2 dogs (plus my one), 2 cats, 2 rams and 3 chickens for 10 days. It was strange to think about being in someone else's home on my own for that long. I took a few different things up to do as I planned to not go anywhere but to think of it as a retreat and get some real 'ME' time.

Each day I did a bit of work around the house, the animals kept me close company. I meditated each day, that was wonderful, it's a thing I'm not good at doing consistently. The first 3 days went wonderfully, I used each hour and time seemed to go nice and slowly. 4th day I visited my neice and grandneice with my brother. 5th day I took the dogs to the beach, the weather was wonderful and the dogs just LOVED the beach. The rest of the days just disappeared somewhere as I think I forgot to get back in the flow.

Pluses - I figured out how to get the chickens in their coup. I got to be in a really good space. I found I still used the dishwasher even though there was only one of me.

Negatives - I didn't do enough exercise, I didn't do any study (actual study I needed to do). And the biggest thing was that I didn't do any art, this is a disappointment to me as I felt I would and thought if I didn't I should throw all my art stuff away as I'll never do it...
