Hospedaje Buena Vista
Do not stay at this hostel. What the guide books fail to tell us, but the local police did, is that this hostel is rife with theft.I had my camera stolen and a fellow traveller said they saw the owner take it. He denied everything and was extremely rude, saying it was not his problem. Please be aware there are plenty of other options, which are larger and cleaner for the same price ($16 for a private room - you can haggle if needed) further down the beach. There are at least another 5 hostels within 200m, so please do not give your business to this theiving owner.I am writing this because I do not want any other travellers going through what I went through. When I reported this to the police, they said that nearly all the thefts they have had reported have been from this hostel. So please, please, stay somewhere else. I wish I had.

Unfortunately theft is rife all throughout Nicaragua. There is a principal the locals live by - 'embrace the opportunity' (ie if it isn't bolted down, locked up or you take your eyes of something it is bound to disappear). Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We were (un)fortunate enough to loose only a couple of carabinas, a pair of sunglasses and a camera case. Nicka-ragua is the only country in Central and South America (we did nearly all of them) of all our travels where we have had anything stolen.
