Exploring central Vietnam

Hue became and remained the capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). They held little power being they were part of the French Indochina colony at this time. The last emperor grew up in France only to ascend the throne and return to Hue at age 13 in 1926. He held the throne until 1945 when he abdicated to the rebel communist leader Ho Chi Minh. He left Vietnam to spend the rest of his life in exile in France - he had many homes including in Paris and in Monaco.
