I didn't get much time on this island but I had a feeling that it would be the same as the others. It is part of America so everything is in dollars and everyone speaks English. I found a bunch of guys waiting outside the terminal and they did an old and new city tour and airport drop off for $25. A bargain so I joined it. I didn't fancy trapsing around town in the heat with my rucksack. We drove through the new town with all the big fancy hotels and lovely beaches. There is a lagoon in the middle of the city between old and new where you can do any type of water sports you like. We drove to the Judicial court house and the fort overlooking the Atlantic ocean. We drove past the Bacardi Rum distillery too. Then we spent most of our time in the old town of San Juan. I loved all the colourful house fronts. They all had amazing balconies too. Some brand new and vibrant in colour and some old and decrepit with paint peeling off. There were many churches mostly painted in pink. I'm certain that there is more to Puerto Rico than just beaches and hotel resorts but I didn't have time to go find it. If the whole island is like old San Juan then I'm coming back but I doubt it.
