WE VAGABONDS HAVE TO BE SOMEWHERE; a hotel or hostel, a birding tour or cruise ship. Or an AirBnB in Myrtle Beach SC. It’s a logical stop on the way to Florida, the price is right and we enjoyed our visit in the spring of ’21.
Third-floor walkup in North Myrtle Beach
Our third floor condo in N. Myrtle Beach suits all our needs—two bedrooms, washer/dryer, a nice kitchen and only a quarter-mile walk from the Cherry Grove beach. There is even a good supermarket within walking distance.

Indian Summer at Myrtle Beach
Low tide makes for poor fishing
After four days of 45° mornings and blustery afternoons, Indian Summer arrived at Myrtle Beach. We didn’t join the folks sunning themselves or splashing in the waves but John tried fishing in the surf again. Unsuccessfully. He alternately blames his fresh-water rod, strong current, too windy, wrong bait…. The pelicans and ospreys are doing OK so hope springs eternal.
Halloween Decorations, N. Myrtle Beach
In another week it will be Halloween. We don’t remember it being such a festive event. Trick-or-Treating, sure, but when did all this decorating begin? Myrtle Beach looks more like Dia de los Muertos in Guadalahara! You can even buy larger-than-life skeletons at Lowes.
