PERFECT VISION THIS YEAR — 20/20 IN 2020 SO TO SPEAK — just might not be in the cards. Our annual visit with the ophthalmologist this morning was far from routine. Connie’s ongoing vision problems are now attributed to a damaged nerve that prevents her eyes from working in tandem. In children with this problem, surgery is often effective. Adults, especially senior citizens, usually prefer to persevere. Decision time.
Is #1 better or #2?
John definitely will need surgery to deal with the cataract in his left eye. It isn’t essential yet but since it won't get better on its own and we will be in Colorado for the next ten weeks or so, he scheduled surgery for the week after his shoulder replacement. Might as well take advantage of Medicare while it’s still available. Everything might look rosy from Washington but things remain fuzzy for the rest of us.
VISION UPDATE: John switched to another ophthalmologist — one he had more confidence in — and had cataract surgery on July 9. He is very happy with the results — 20/20 — but says it doesn't make what's happening in the country look any better!
