AS TRAVEL JOURNALS GO, THIS ONE HASN’T COVERED much ground lately. I apologize if you are one of those who rely on us for your vicarious travel fix. And while we are more or less homebound, I, myself, have just returned from one of the (IMHO) greatest journeys — one of far-off lands, strange folks, unthinkable evil, great deeds and heroic battles.
Into the Unknown
I am referring, of course, to The Lord of the Rings — J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantastical trilogy. If you are searching for adventure in this time of pestilence, deceit and uncertainty, this might just be the ticket. You can, if you'd rather, watch Peter Jackson’s faithfully created characters but for a truly remarkable adventure, try combining Tolkien’s own words with your unique imagination.
Fellow Travelers
I revisit The Lord of the Rings every decade or so — I think this is my sixth time — and I have found something new and interesting in each reading. Mayhap you will too. ¡Buen viaje!
