Sorry it's been so long

Well, I didn't realise how long it had been since I last updated on here.  Not really been doing too much !!  Only mustered 15000 cattle at Clio & Wetherby.

Not too eventful really, but long hot days.  No dustthough, due to further showers.

Last week I was in Cunamulla SW Qld at Ross's place (Pitherty).  They have both Merino & SAMS (South African Meat Sheep) and I went down to help them do the final shearing of the Merinos.  They are going to get rid of them and buy more SAMS.

It was very interesting to see the shearing and see how different shhep work is to cattle work.  I have put some photos on for you all to see.  We came back up to Cloncurry on Thursday and had a party to go too and both Friday & Saturday night.  I was the driver on Friday, but made up for it on Saturday and as it turned out sunday.  Jelly wrestling had been organised and it seamed a sham to miss it.  I haven't put photos on !!

Not much more to tell really.  Mustering here is about to start so I will let you know how that all goes.

Ed

Hello Ed
Good to hear from you again and to see some great photographs. Glad you have managed to see life on a sheep station first hand. How did you find it - a little easier to manage I would imagine but I have no idea really. Did you manage to do any shearing - back breaking work I am told.
We are enjoying some fantastic weather at the moment, with long periods of sunshine which is great. The garden looks very colourful just now - Phils hard work over the winter months really shows now. All the pruning etc has opened things up and it looks really good.
We had a wonderful weekend with Shirley and Charles in N Yorks. We spent some time looking around Helmsley before enjoying a lovely picnic (courtesy of S & C) on the edge of the moors. We then did the "daffodil walk"in Farndale which was lovely. We went onto Rosedale and we showed S & C where Andy did the big bike ride up Chimney Bank ( I was still at the bottom)
We then went to Gillamoor and checked into The Royal Oak and had a lovely lazy meal in the evening. Next morning Charles went out for a run (he forgot to give me a knock) and we had breakfast and then made our way over to Grosmont. We boarded the train and were seated at our table in a very old carriage. It was delightful and we enjoyed a lovley meal as the train made its way to Pickering. We stretched our legs there and got back on the train and had our desert and coffee as we sauntered back to Grosmont. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed it very much.
We then had a quick run into Whitby and walked to the end of the pier before heading back home. A very happy and memorable weekend.
We hope all is well with you and that you are enjoying life to the full. Take good care Eddy.
With our love as always. Mum & Dad xxxxx

An old cowboy sat down at the Starbucks and ordered a cup of coffee.
As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him.

She turned to the cowboy and asked,
'Are you a real cowboy?'

He replied, 'Well, I've spent my whole life breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, doctoring calves, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, working on tractors, and feeding my dogs, so I guess I am a cowboy.'

She said, 'I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about women. When I shower, I think about women. When I watch TV, I think about women. I even think about women when I eat. It seems that everything makes me think of women.'

The two sat sipping in silence.

A little while later, a man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?'

He replied, 'Hell, I always thought I was, but I just found out that I'm a lesbian.'

Hi Eddy
Well well well where you when the caretaking job on Hamilton Island came up for grabs! Still counting the cattle I guess and quite happy where you are!!
All is fine here and we are all preparing for the wedding of Simon and Emmaj on the 15th of May. Really looking forward to the event and just hope the weather is kind for them.
We have had lots of days out this Spring time and England really is fantastic when the weather is good. We saw masses of bluebells in Middleton woods in Ilkley last week and they were very spectacular. The garden is just about at its best just now and we have given the lawn its first cut and so it looks nice and neat and tidy.
However we have had our wings clipped this week as the car is in dock. Its been very noisy of late and so has gone in for a full service and investigation. Hope to have it back in a couple of days and then we will be raring to go again.
Philip has been busy making a run for Wanda. She has been spotted outside on the pavement when we have been out and we fear for her safety so the run should keep her safe and secure and yet she can be outside when the weather is nice and warm.
Hope all is well in Northern Queensland and that you are still enjoying life. Remeber us to everyone and do take good care.

Hi Eddy Its us again!
Hope all is well Eddy as it is here on Swales Moor.
We went into HSBC in Halifax on Thursday and made a total hash of trying to pay a small cheque, which had arrived for you, into your account. In the end a Customer Service lady came to our assistance. We were only trying to put the cheque into the wrong machine!! So this very helpful lady asked what we wanted to do and we gave her all the details and she took us to another machine and was busy showing us what to do ---- when her eyes fell upon your name. Oh she said Eddy Bird one of my Friday night drinking pals in Bradford. She realised we were your parents and told us alsorts about you!!!! Anyway we told her that the cheque was your drinking money and she totally understood the urgency.
She wishes to be remembered to you and her name is Lisa Bulmer! She was ever so interested to hear how you were geting on and sends her best wishes. So, there we go. If we knew what we were doing any of the time we would perhaps not meet these kind and helpful people!
We have been to a small show today in Cullingworth - abit of everything there and it was very interesting. We had a good long ride in a steam bus, all the way to Haworth, stopping by a stream half way round to take on water! Tomorrow we are hoping to go to Elvington with Andy & Ms where Melvyn is showing The Matador and also firing one of the big guns so that should be good.
Hope all is well around Jessievale. Take good care.
