Sundowners on the Zambezi, Royal Livingstone Hotel

Sundowners on the Zambezi, Royal Livingstone Hotel

Aston was waiting for us when we arrived at his guesthouse, Fawlty Towers.  It receives high scores from Lonely Planet and we can’t fault their rating.  It’s clean and pleasant, our room is new and spacious, the towels are thick and the people are the friendliest.  There is a self-catering kitchen and even a Shoprite across the street.  They run a daily free shuttle to Victoria Falls and can arrange almost anything your heart desires around Livingstone.

Aston took us up to the Royal Livingstone Hotel for “sundowners” on Thursday.  This is where the infamous “1%” spend their time and money.  Rooms begin at $700 and even the views over the Zambezi can’t be worth that much.  While I was taking a photo of Connie and the local zebra, one of the friskier ones kicked her in the butt.  She’s OK, more or less, but it did leave quite an impression.
