Me with the kids at Cawaro Village School during the Vitika Trek

Hi, I'm Sloggs. 40 years young from Bristol in the UK.

I started this blog as I was taking a year out to travel on a RTW ticket. Long career dropped, relationship status changed, (almost) every possession sold, so long, all the best!

Click on the image below to see my Google map, which shows some places I've already been and my travel route for that year (2008)... I 'accidentally' ended up staying in Fiji for around 6 months because of the wonderful Tribewanted experience on Vorovoro island. Did some work for the project, promoting and leading a 'virgin' trek into the Northeast of Vanua Levu. I also got lucky in meeting the love of my life on Vorovoro... what a start, not many are lucky enough to have such a story.

Luckily for the travelling community and the rest of the world, Vorovoro Fiji is to be re-opened to travellers from April 2013 having been closed for 3 years. It will be reopened in the same vein as before by Bridge the Gap Villages, who will be keeping the focus on cross-cultural experience, sustainability and helping the community run the island as their own business for the future. Please check them out and lend a hand in their initial funding campaign.

Things have changed a lot since that trip though, and a brand new career direction undertaken. I've reshaped myself physically, mentally and spiritually and am enjoying the best in life with my wonderful partner Irina and our new goals together! More plans are ahead, including my own little business idea which popped into my head whilst driving around New Zealand in a campervan. Its a slow start, but methodical and consistant progress will be made... who knows where it might go, but there is potential.

I am massively addicted to climbing & bouldering, wish I started doing it many many years ago, but learning fast and getting up to scratch. More climbing adventures to come... Also into running & triathlons now, so that is another improvement in me!

New trips planned:

  • Via Ferrata Climbing in the Dolomites in June 2011 (Blog coming soon!)
  • Independent trekking in Nepal for 2012 (Blog coming soon!)

Irina and I also write a health and fitness blog, check it out!

Hopefully you're here cos you already know me, or have recently met me and you want to see what I'm up to!

I will gratefully receive cash donations through my PayPal account to help fund my travels. [you can use debit or credit cards and do not need a PayPal account to make a payment to me]

Rest assured I will not just spend it on beer, but will gratefully put the cash to use and do something worthwhile with your kind donation... :-)
