Got here and survived the night!

Well, the flight was delayed on the runway for an hour in Heathrow, good start. I was sat next to a young Australian guy who was going home after seeing his French girlfriend! Also sat with us was a Danish chap who was pretty sound.

I actually managed to get some sleep on this flight, about 3 hours, lol. That was after watching The Bourne Ultimatum, which rocks and always make me feel like doing some spy work... lol ;-)

Immigration and bag collection went smoothly and I went looking for the aircon bus into bangkok that stopped in the area I intended to stay. Met a chap called Chris waiting for the same bus as me and staying in one of the three hotels I'd narrowed it down to. Sound chap who it turns out is quite similar to me, IT bloke (manager), 32 years old, single and off on a 7 flight tour to South East Asia, Aus, New Zealand, USA and Canada!

Got sorted in the hotel for 580B per night and had a cold shower and called my mum to let her know I was here ok.

Went out with Chris and had a wander around some of the back streets in and around Khoa San road and then found a place to stop, eat (pork neck with hot chillis and pancake rolls with sweet chilli, plus some noodles from a street vendor later on, yum!) and drink beer and watch the world go by, which we succesfully managed for a few hours, Lol!

Khoa San Road at night

Got to bed about 11:30, knackered. Had about 2 hours then got woken up by the noisy gits coming in roaring drunk and slamming doors and arguing, couldn't get back to sleep then for a bit but eventually dropped off and slept through my alarm and got woken by the girl banging on the door shouting to ask if I wanted to stay another night! Lol. So got up about 12:30 and went for a wander. Went all over the area around Khoa San road through all the markets and little side streets which was interesting, smelly and hectic! Bought a sun hat and some dodgy Oakleys, with a bit of haggling... heheh

I walked down to the Grand Palace too, but by the time I'd messed around walking all over I got there just as they were closing... so will go back tomorrow morning to have a look! Might get a taxi though, done miles and miles today! lol ;-)

So, off now for another cold shower and to meet Chris for beers and food at 7.

Laters haters... ;-)

Well done bud, so far so good. Sorted out a Nationwide account for myself the other day so that's the first little step for me and my travels.
