Destination – Thailand
– Part III – Bangkok &
Koh Phangan
After another
Air Asia flight and a smooth taxi ride we are finally back in amazing Bangkok,
man we really love this city. We go back to Erawan House and it feels like
home already, what a nice welcome, hellos everywhere. We left a bag here and
it’s all there. We go shopping at the best shopping places in the whole wide world.
The worse floods in decades are happening but in Bangkok, it’s just business as
usual. Respect! The rains get us stranded at the shopping centres (can think of
worse places)… Hotel is great, internet works, cable works, food is nice and
clean, electricity 24 hours, yeah, thanks, we really appreciate it! After a
week in this wonderful functioning city we decide, after finally seeing a bit
of blue in sky, that it’s time to go back to the islands and shake off the monsoon rains.
After much
consideration and endless team meetings, we decide to go to Koh Phangan on the
sleeper train. It’s a new island for us as we’ve been to Koh Samui and Koh Tao before. We also have been reading a lot of good things about
it, it is nice and relaxing, outside of full moon party time, obviously. So,
after a taxi, train, boat and taxi ride, we arrive at the Haad Yao Bay View
Resort, not bad at all, by the nice beach, big bright room, beautiful
pool, great restaurant, fantastic buffet breakfast, we need a place to chill
and this might be it. And Haad Yao Beach it sure is. We decide to hang around for 2
weeks, enjoying the beach and the pre-season special prices (USD$26 per night
including buffet breakfast and USD$4 for one hour of Thai massage). Jumping
from the beach to the pool we have a great time working hard on our suntan. We
also rent a scooter and explore the island but really, we are mostly chilling
before starting our way down towards Australia. We love Thailand, it’s got “everything
for everybody.” And so after a lovely 2 weeks of relaxing we reluctantly decide its time to move on and organize our next trip - Penang in Malysia.
