THIS WAS OUR THIRD TIME IN HOBART—first in our campervan, the other on a cruise—so we felt justified in just running some errands instead of sightseeing. Connie has been trimming my hair every three weeks or so but her hair was in desperate need of attention. Her last haircut was on New Year’s Day in Bali so finding a salon was our first order of business. When she was coifed we spent some time examining cameras—Connie’s CoolPix recently gave up the ghost but we’ll wait until we’re home to replace it—then wandered along shady Elizabeth Street back to the ship for lunch.

It rained during our stay at Freycinet National Park back in 2012—thankfully we were in a campervan, not a tent—but it must have cleared enough for us to hike up for views of Wineglass Bay. Today we slowly cruised through Oyster Bay, escorted by a pod of Bottle-nosed Dolphins. Scores of Australian Fur Seals sunned on the rocks surrounded by thousands of Black-Faced Cormorants.

We aren’t sure why Eden, NSW was on our itinerary except to fill in the Leap Day, February 29. We spent less than two hours there in 2012 and skipped it entirely only a month ago on our drive north. The only reason we went ashore was to buy cough drops at the “chemist” for John’s cold.
