WE WILL BE OUT OF TOUCH for the next week or so. We are taking a cruise to Aruba, Curacao and the Dominican Republic on the Carnival Horizon. One of the ways cruise lines remain profitable in spite of the low fares is the amount they charge for extras—drinks, spas, excursions and Internet. Unltil you have earned enough Stars to start a galaxy or Anchors to moor a navy, you must pay through the nose for everything onboard. Since no cash is tendered, no credit cards swiped it isn't until the final reckoning that the hapless sailor learns the true cost of the cruise. This will be our first Celebrity cruise and we have no standing hence no postings until we return.
A Petri Dish or Haven from Covid?
And for those of you who think a cruise is like spending a week in a Covid petri dish, consider this. Everyone—passengers and crew—must be fully vaccinated and test negative before boarding. Where else in Governor DeSantis's Florida can one say that?
