IN YIDDISH THEY SAY "MANN TRACT, UN GOTT LACHT." Well She is certainly having a chuckle at the expense of all of us during this Covid pandemic. It is sunny and 80°F on the Island of Hawaii where we planned to be. Denver, where we actually are, had six inches of snow yesterday with record low temperatures. “He-he-he,” I hear Her giggle.

We have resigned ourselves to Colorado until the end of June. There will be enough to keep us busy despite the “stay-at-home” decrees but that won’t keep us from exercising our inner-wanderlust. In fact, the self-isolation combined with innovative schedule of Rocky Mountain PBS has turned our attention to North Africa.

Back in the 70s the “E” in Public Television stations WNET and WETA stood for education. RMPBS has returned to its roots by airing series like the American Experience to enrich home-schooling programs. Another series, Africa’s Great Civilizations, caught our attention.

So while god prepares to laugh again, we are making plans to visit the legendary Timbuktu in Mali, to explore Algeria and revisit Egypt. And while we are at it, why not Saudi Arabia. Connie has been there on military duty and now that it is open for business, I can go, too.
