Trip To Fraser Island

UNITED KINGDOM | Tuesday, 18 March 2008 | Views [639] | Comments [2]

Hi All, well it looks as though Ed is going to let us write again!!! So here we go - got picked up early yesterday morning and drove down to Rainbow Beach to catch a ferry across to Fraser Island.  Yesterday was spent driving down the beach for about 70 miles stopping at various points of interest to take in the fabulous views and sites.  We checked into our accomodation and went out for an excellent Mexican meal followed by a few beers with the rest of our group which got kind of messy again!!!  Today we were off early again and drove into the centre of the island through the Rainforest to Lake McKenzie - a large freshwater lake where we swam and generally soaked up the sun.  This was followed by a Barbie before it was time to leave.  We are now back in Hervey Bay tonight until we catch the Greyhound at 01:25 for Brisbane.  We have about half an hour in Brisbane before our plane leaves for Rocky again tomorrow morning (Don't ask why we are going south to then go north again - Bloody Judith!!!).  A lazy day in Rocky tomorrow before we head to Airlie Beach and the sailing in the Whitsundays - should be good if the weather holds up - fingers crossed.  All is good here - teatime me thinks!!!  Bye til next time xxx

Hi All
Andy - what irresponsible parents you have - we should have warned you about Judith and her sense of direction! On an excursion to Australia Zoo we travelled for about 3/4 of an hour on a train out of Brisbane before Jude realised we were going completely the wrong way.
Good to hear from you again and glad to hear all is well and hope you get some relaxing time when you reach The Whitsunday Islands. Have you experienced the Squeaky sand?
Mel we do hope you are managing to find places to serve cups of tea perhaps with a nice Anzac biscuit.
Thanks for the lovely PC which arrived today & Mary was absolutely thrilled to receive hers too - she rang straight away.
Must go now to forewarn Bunderburg about your impending visit.
Continue to have fun and lots of love to you all.

Hey Jude Andy & Mel,
You are always one jump ahead of us! You are on The Whitsunday Islands and we are just celebrating Easter -how time flies. Happy Easter to you all anyway and we hope you all received Easter Eggs.
All is well here and today has been a lovely day if only abit windy - however its been blue sky all the way and very pleasant if you manage to keep moving.
The weather over the holiday period does not sound very promising, snow forecast! Do bring some warm sunshine home please.
We are all getting together on Monday Shirley Charles
Simon EmmaJ Ms Barbara Derrick and Grandma Mary so I have been busy planning a menu. I made a Simnel Cake a couple of weeks ago ( very nice with a cup of tea Mel) and so will have to decorate that tomorrow. It needs eleven balls of marzipan to depict eleven faithful disciples of Christ.
Ms rang this morning and sounds to have plenty planned for the weekend and sounds to be on top form
Hope all is well with the three of you. Take good care.
Lots of love Mum & Dad xxxx
