He only went out for some milk A blurb of monstrous proportions - it was only supposed to be a couple of lines and the odd photo.

Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul

Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul

The Czech Republics second largest city, and it has the feel of a small town.  I arrive Sunday lunchtime after an easy 2.5 hour bus ride and the place is deserted - soooo different to Prague.  The hostel i was going to check into doesn't exist - probably a lack of customers.  With the help of the tourist info i get a large room in some Czech families house, overlooking the main square.  Table, chairs, settee and my own little balcony - perfect.  Straight away i like this place and my mood had brightened no end.

I cant say that there is a fantastic amount to do in this city, which is just what i want.   The place is picture card perfect - not as good as Prague but still a lovely mix of cobblestone street and different architectural styles.  The highlight for me is to go and visit an Abbey and a garden - Mendel´s Abbey and garden.  For those of you who studied science and remember learning about how he grew different types of peas and founded genetics the name Johann Mendel will be familiar.  It gave me a real buzz - sad i know.

The rest of my time was spent chilling, enjoying a glass or two of wine and reading a good book.

Its a hard life.
