GOOGLE MAPS SAYS THE GRAND CANYON is 94-miles from Cottonwood. According to Gabbi, who relies on roads, it’s a bit over 150. Pas de problemme—no drive is too far for another chance to see one of Nature’s best efforts.

Rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon (2010)
We have camped on the South Rim and seen the Canyon from the North Rim. We hiked the six-mile long Bright Angel Trail to the Colorado River and back in a single day, a vertical mile down and another back up. We even spent two-weeks rafting beneath the Canyon’s towering walls. Even so, we couldn’t resist another visit.

There are photographers who make their living solely on photos of the Canyon’s seasonal- and weather-dependent moods—there is even a studio balanced on the South Rim. The rest of us take what we can get and consider ourselves lucky even to see such splendor.
If you wait long enough (Professional photo taken from the Internet)
It was noonish and sunny when we arrived, possibly the worst light for nature photography, but it was the first time we had seen snow in the Canyon. From the Rim Trail only a tiny bit of the Colorado River a mile below can be seen, and only if you know where to look.

And if you don’t think my photos live up to all the hype, get thee to the Canyon your own self. You won’t be sorry.
