Aphrodite's Beach Trail, West Coast near Polis

Aphrodite's Beach Trail, West Coast near Polis

WHETHER YOU ARE TRAVELING FOR FIVE YEARS OR TWO WEEKS, it is important to take a break once in a while, a vacation from your vacation as it were.  Which is how we found ourselves 40 kilometers north of Pafos, near Polis for a three-day R&R.  The Eliofos Center apartments, a year-old complex on the edge of an orange grove, is the best deal we’ve found on the trip, a kitchen and living/dining area downstairs and a bedroom and bath up with great wifi and use of a washing machine.  All for €30 a night.

During the day we hiked the Aphrodite Trail along Chrysohou Bay under blue skies, looking for birds, admiring the wildflowers and marveling at the view from the sea cliffs.  In the evening we took advantage of the kitchen and feasted on home-cooked tender pork chops with caramelized apples and mashed potatoes, one of the tastiest meals in a while.  This is what a holiday should be.
