Swiss Envy

Snowy day, Bernese Oberland

Snowy day, Bernese Oberland

I would like to live in Switzerland.  A place like Bern, Baden Baden, Gstaad, Zermat or St. Moritz.   Even more, I would like to be able to afford to live in Switzerland.  One hotel owner said he pays his employees – regular worker bees – more than $50K a year.

St. Moritz, doesn't it look like home?

November isn’t the best time to visit Switzerland.  It is too early to ski, it’s too cold for hiking and snow is always a possibility.  But we have been enjoying ourselves in the Bernese Oberland and the Matterhorn valley.  The poplars and larch trees are golden against the dark green firs and rocky crags while snow covered peaks tower in the background.  When the fog clears, that is.

Few people would compare Switzerland and Mozambique, but they share one thing.  Hotel rate and food prices in both countries are greatly overpriced.  At least the money in Switzerland goes towards salaries.
