Minha experiência de Sucre

BOLIVIA | Tuesday, 25 September 2012 | Views [404]

Highlights:

Meeting Collin

Cretaceous Park

Mooy (Nightclub)

Lowlights:

None

People:

Collin Harte: Irish, ginger beard and ginger hair, pale skin, works in the ambulance service in Ireland, has a fairly strong Irish accent, lives up to the Irish drinking standards, funny, witty, crazy, open-minded, well-read, intelligent, party animal, warm heart.

Dutch Girls: met them in Bibliocafe bar, drank a lot, very friendly and lots of fun

Viviana: Bolivian girl, very beautiful, met in Mooy nightclub, danced the whole night..

Places:

Casa de la Libertad: a museum where the Bolivian declaration of independence was signed in 1825. It was a bit boring.

Cretaceous Park: a dinosaur park that has a museum with dinosaur footprint fossils amongst other dinosaur artifacts. From the park you are able to see a giant wall (that rose due to friction of tectonic plates moving). The wall contains over 5000 dinosaur tracks from at least 8 different species. It wasn’t possible to get up-close to the tracks because there was a risk of a land slide on certain portions of the wall. The tour was brief and to the point, but our English speaking guide gave us some very interesting information and I enjoyed the tour overall.

Mooy (Nightclub): Collin and I went bar hoping and then went hunting for a club. Eventually we went looking for a club. At one of the bars they directed us to a shopping centre. We were very confused and the people at the doors were all wearing long trench coats. We thought they were the mafia and that we were going to get kidnapped when they offered to direct us to the club. We got into the elevator accompanied by what a person (we weren’t sure if it was a man or woman) and was taken to the rooftop of the complex. The rooftop had an amazing view of the city and the club was phenomenal, something I would never have expected from a Bolivian club. The club was classy, with excellent decor and lighting. Our whiskies were served with glowing green lights under them. The music in the club was a mix of electronic and popular music, some Portuguese but mostly Spanish, Collin and I danced furiously the whole night. I met a Bolivian girl, Viviana, there. We danced through much of the night.

Convento de San Felipe Neri: A beautiful church turned school that had an amazing rooftop view of the city. The guided tour in Spanish was pretty interesting.

Recoleta: Collin and I took a walk to Recoleta which had semi-decent views of the city. There were too many trees in the way but we chilled out at a restaurant and had a drink.

Bibliocafe: It was Friday night, I felt like a beer and thought that Bibliocafe would be a good bar to get one and maybe make some friends. I sat at the bar alone sipping on my 2 jugs of beer (because it was happy hour and there was a 2 for one special) and I overheard 3 girls speaking Dutch to each other. I introduced myself to them and threw in a bit of Afrikaans which made them laugh. Collin and I visited it again after meeting the following day.

Electronic House Party: At Bibliocafe the Dutch girls and I ended up having many cocktails and beers together and they invited me to an Electronic house party they were planning to attend.  I ended up going with them and hit it off with the DJs. They let me play a half an hour set of Tech House. It was really awesome and we had tons of fun. They walked me home at 4:00 in the morning.

Town Water Fountain & Light display: This water fountain and light display was absolutely incredible. Collin and I went there with no expectation what so ever and we were both blown away at how well done the display was. The music was a bit sketchy at times but they recovered with some excellent tunes. They had an amazing array of fountains and the arrangements of lights was very well thought.

Foods:

Sausage Sandwich: Raphael advised me to try out a sausage sandwich in the central Mercado. It was absolutely delicious with tons of spices and bursting with flavour.

Chocolates Para Ti: Raphael told me that the chocolates in Sucre were amazing and indeed they were. I am not a chocolate lover but I cleaned out a box of chocolates in 2 days. The box included a variety of different kinds of chocolates (white, dark, nutty, fudgy, etc).

La Terverne: a French restaurant with a beautifully styled interior. I ordered a medium steak in whiskey sauce which was prepared to perfection and some French red wine. I was very impressed with the quality of the food. I returned with Collin on another occasion but they prepared our steaks well done as opposed to the medium we requested. It was still delicious nevertheless.
