Before leaving Lake Tekapo for Christchurch I met a girl at the hostel who not only lived about 10 miles from me at home but who also went to the same school (but not at the same time) - how small is this world?
Arrived in Christchurch in warm and sunny weather. Hired a car with Jo and Claire and drove out to a small french inspired village called Akaroa about 50 miles away. Had a saunter around and lunch at one of the pavement cafes. Visited a cheese factory on the way back and tried to visit a winery but unfortunately it was closed - a big dissapointment for Jo and Claire.
The weather then changed to become showery and I spent the rest of my time in Christchurch visiting the botanical gardens and the Antarctic Centre.
