What can i say about Potosi? It's a town built around silver mines, which the Spanish bled dry and now the people here struggle to make a living mainly mining whatever they can find left in the mountain.

The main attraction here is the tour of the mines which we opted not to do mainly because Vendy wasnt keen and i could imagine what it would be like. A few of our group went this morning and said it was eye opening, and harrowing. Most said that once was enough.

We took the easy option and went to the mint to see the finished products and learn a bit about the colonial times here. It was a good tour, and after that we had a walk and a nice set lunch, oh and a little bit of shopping - it's hard to avoid....

Tonight the hostel are showing a film about life in the mines so we will watch that and avoid the dirty air and horrible conditions in the real ones!
