After an uneventful journey we arrived in Pisco, and we knew there had been an earthquake here in august last year but we were not prepared for the level of destruction in this town. Apparently 85 percent of the town was destroyed and its now quite unsafe to walk around out of the centre, as people here have nothing.
We had a look round and went to see the grave of the alleged English vampire buried in the cemetary but that too is pretty badly affected but luckily an armed policeman showed us how to enter the cemetary and even showed us the grave.
Walking around this town makes you feel very lucky, as most people still live in tents or wooden sheds. Apparently, because of the destruction there was no way to alert the fact that there had been an earthquake. It's very sad.
Later we had a meal very close to the hotel and tried the local drink, pisco sour - its brandy with egg white and lime. its actually very nice!
