‘Night Ride’ is an annual ‘Amtrak Cascades Costume’ OR Bike riding event that began at the Union Train Station this past Saturday night (7/11/09) – a chance to bond with other bikers to do a Portland course - marked with bright flashing signs and glowing arrows with surprises and mysteries...outdoor bike movies, popcorn, & ending with a dance. It began with drumming by “The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers” --- an outstanding soul-riveting drum corps! See video at:

From their website I learned that, "The L. R. S. D. was founded in 1998 in Ptld. OR by acclaimed Long Beach drummer Greg Odell." From traditional syncopation to funky street beats, marching rhythms to military cadences, the Last Regiment has captivating power & irrepressible rhythm! You don't just listen...you FEEL the beat! I was unable to download my 13 min video, which only captured about 1/2 of it – but their sound is fabulous!
