On the journey To Dalat we meet two Norwegian girls, who are travelling for a bit while they study in Vietnam. It's supposed to be a 7 hour journey but takes 9. Due to past experiences I count this as a result, meeting two girls makes it doubly so :)
Dalat is a lovely town, it has a nice layout, it's clean, it has a lake, it even has joggers. I don't join them, mainly because I'm too busy eating, drinking and hatching travel plans with the group. I also know that i will still get chased by dogs. I have to mention the conversation Darren (D) and i had with the receptionist (R), it's not often i get this sort of compliment:
D - "where are we on the map"
R - "i already told you"
Me - "no, that was me"
D - "do we all look a like - can't you tell I'm the better looking one" - said with a smile
R - "NO WAY!"
as Darren pointed out, it's not exactly a compliment - but it will do for me.
The girls want to go trekking in the nearby national park of Yok Don. It's not exactly the easiest place to get to, but you know i love trekking. So another change of plan...Darren leaves to go scuba diving (i will catch up with him) and the girls and i travel get the local bus to Buon Me Thout. It's a local bus for local people (The league of gentlemen). Local actually means it's crammed to the rafters, when it is crammed to the rafters it means they can find room for people on top of the bus. hanging out of the windows and a chicken or two. I strangely feel completely at home with this. we have no chicken, so our half empty bus only has 27.5 people instead of the recommended 20. As a fatty westerner I'm the 0.5.
We arrive fairly late in town and immediately get accosted by moto drivers. Our desire to walk sends one of them into a frenzy and he shouts a lot, doesn't he know he's supposed to keep cool and not lose face, hasn't he read the lonely planet? More food, more drink and more hatching of travel plans.
Oh yeah, A question for you - name 5 famous people from Norway.
