About magdalena

Most people that will be reading this blog throughout the year will be my friends and family.....

But considering this is meant to be an open book of ideas and content, I guess I should write some kind of profile about myself.

My name is Magdalena. I was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1984. I moved to Canada when I was 3 years old and grew up in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. After completing high school I spontaneously decided to accept a track scholarship to the University of Nebraska Omaha. There I had a successful academic and athletic experience and met some great people. The completion of my undergraduate degree in Nebraska led me to make another spontaneous decision to move back to Poland to go to medical school. There I learned a different way of life and met more great people along the way. That 4 years ended all too quickly and last year I matched to Residency in Canada. After completing my intern year (PGY1) my boyfriend Thomas and I decided to take a big leap of faith and take a year off of residency training.

It all started with a walk at the lake that sparked a conversation about what we still wanted to see and do in life before we settled into our work life and future. We had both thought about extensive trips abroad and the discussion began with the possibility of doing it in a few years time. However, Thomas eagerly suggested that we do it this year and that the sooner the better. I looked at him and smiled and within a few weeks time our conversation had become reality.

All of the support since then has been amazing! And our ideas got flowing...

Now we are off on a 9 month journey to parts of Europe/Africa/Asia/Oceania.....

Each step will be a different experience. With each step there will be new ideas and new perspectives. I hope it changes us.

let the voyage begin!
