Munich 2016

Germany | Tuesday, August 9, 2016 | 62 photos

We left for Munich, arriving in the afternoon, to check in and get settled. The room is enormous compared to what seemed to be a very spacious cabin!!! We met up with a few others and wandered off to the pedestrian walking streets with mostly shops, and lots of people. We found a great biergarten for dinner and enjoyed sitting out.

Tuesday was a great though brief tour of the city for a couple of hours. It would be very hard to see much of it on foot or by the underground as it’s very spread out. Some very old next to very new due to extensive bombing in WWII. If an old house/building was extensively damaged it just got replaced in the 40s/50s with “new”. Some is good architecture, some not. But the contrasts are very interesting and there is a great deal of the old remaining. It’s nice to get information from the guide as there’s so much to figure out here.

We stopped at the BMW factory and show room. BMW is one of the largest employers, behind Siemens, in Germany. We saw green spaces and residential areas and found the city very inviting. It is a great city!
