Guitar Woes

AUSTRALIA | Thursday, 29 April 2010 | Views [390] | Comments [2]

It had to happen sometime I guess – a broken E string.  I mean when you think about it my guitar is being particularly long suffering – and even though it is luxuriously cushioned in it’s new padded case (thank you Pauly XX) – it is still enduring being squashed in the car; extremes of heat and cold; and jolting rides over corregated tracks.

So having purchased new strings I set about the task of replacing the old frayed 6.

I have always known that Pauly O was an excellent musician and loudly lauded his musical prowess, (along with the talents of our fellow trio'ist the gorgious and creative Terri) - however I have never fully appreciated before now his talent at string replacement.  When Pauly has replaced my strings in the past – the guitar has been handed back looking beautifully groomed – like a poodle returning from the pampered pooch parlour.  However, my finished efforts have resulted in strings sticking out in all directions (in fact I am sure there are more strings sticking out than I have put in there in the first place)!!

My poor guitar now looks like someone has told it that it is required to play a best of Kenny G medley and the resulting shock and horror has made all it’s hair stand up on end.

……… my guitar gently weeps.

PS – have I mentioned that it is still raining!

One must start somewhere in guitar preening Leanne, best bet now is to treat it like an old lover - get a picture of a beautiful shiny new guitar and look at that whilst you're fiddling with the old girl.
