CONGRATULATIONS to Obama & to the American People!
What an incredibly important milestone in American history!!!! I am so proud of this country for selecting this dynamic, multi-racial, multi-cultural, inspirational leader!! He inherits incredibly difficult challenges ahead, but this American decision is transformational – & will be across the world!

Taken from Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope.”

“You don’t need a poll to know that the vast majority of Americans – Republican, Democrat, and Independent – are weary of the dead zone that politics has become, in which narrow interests vie for advantage and ideological minorities seek to impose their own versions of absolute truth. Whether we’re from red states or blue states, we feel in our gut the lack of honesty, rigor, and common sense in our policy debates and dislike what appears to be a continuous menu of false or cramped choices. Religious or secular, black, white, or brown, we sense – correctly – that the nation’s most significant challenges are being ignored…

The year I was born, President Kennedy stated in his inaugural address: “To those peoples in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required – not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”

To the thousands who paved his way with their lives - Thank You for this moment in history… and for the years to come!

I can't think of another individual alive in my lifetime who is able to command so much power with just words. Yesterday was a historic event by any measure, although no matter how well he does, I fear he can't live up to peoples expectations.

Thanks for your comment! However, I believe fear has no place now - we have had enough of that with the Bush administration. We now not only need to have the "Audacity of Hope" but we need to have the courage, strength and perseverance to act. Then their will be change!

You may be right - that millions of people all over the world, now expect him to change so much that seems wrong, but I think if things 'fail' or what we perceive as failure, it will not be because he has not lived up to people's expectations - it will be because Americans have failed to lived up to his expectations. We need to be informed & now act with integrity, generosity, and compassion.
