Mosquito Control is seriously needed here!
I grew up in Minnesota - I know mosquitoes!  They were BIG & Noisy!!!  I had no qualms about killing them before they sucked my blood!  I didn’t have a Buddhist philosophy then…and I don't have one now for killing blood-sucking insects.

Since I am visiting for a month, I thought I could spare any additional expense & just sleep in my daughter's queen-size bed - at least the 1st week.  She has a 1-bed, 1-room apt.  It seemed to work fine until - - we both were not sleeping well.  A WHOLE month sharing her bed with only an 'occasional’ snoring mother was a lot to ask!  So...I bought a thin Korean futon floor bed & comforter.  OK – rather good for my back…BUT not good for mosquito control.

Kelsey’s bed can be completely covered with a net – you can relax knowing there will be NO BUZZING in your ears!  Our nightly routine, before we jumped under the net, had included killing any we could see - but because they were so very quiet, small, & elusive – they hid until we fell asleep!

So...now I've been trying my new futon - without a net.  I attempt to kill whatever ones I can find with a BIG can of spray. Next, I don mosquito bracelets, spray any exposed areas & turn on a fan.   It is rather late in the season to find another net.  We were told to go on-line, but also advised that "They should be gone in a few weeks!"  Well, so will I! Only 1 more week with these little buggers!!  Let the itching stop!

I, too, grew up with mosquitoes and also do not have the Jain outlook of every biting insect being sacred. I loved sleeping under a net--it seemed so private and my own little world-like, which I guess every kid likes.
On a related note, our church recently donated $720 for mosquito nets. Added together with all the churches in the diocese it came to thousands of dollars. When Mtr Alcena reported it this morning there was some disagreement about the actual amount but I was so happy it was a lot. xox Vivian

Thanks for your comment, but don't really know what you mean - can you please explain?
