Lighting out for the territory Once more in the Middle East. The more I travel the more I want to travel and the longer that I am out of England the happier I am.

Sat 4 Oct - Istanbul

TURKEY | Sunday, 5 October 2008 | Views [123]

Almost went into Agia Sophia today - queued for a bit while I had a cigarette, then got bored and wandered off. I am conscious of money, yes,and it is a tenner to go in but I really just like hanging out, riding the trams, nipping across the Bosphorous for a look round the backstreets of Kadikoy ( a pet shop with an alligator in a tank in the window - fancy!), buying an apple from a stall, photographing toddlers at the fountain opp the Blue Mosque, just normal Istanbulu stuff. I may have gone native but, hey! if wearing a headscarf and trying out yr Turkish means you are immune from blandishments of touts, why not.
