Hi, I heard on the News that there a bush fires ALL over Australia!!!!! Let me know what has happened and what has burned down.

There was an election here and the Liberals were ousted by the conservatives after 13 years in power. The Liberal party here has been rocked by a number of corruption problems and most people seem to think that it is fairly good that they are gone.

Jane ann is going to build a bookcase/storage thing for our kitchen/dining room. I have sanded and put primer on all of the pieces that we'll use. It was quite fun. I went down to the basement where there is a work bench and did it over two sessions. When you go down to the front door there is the distinctive smell of paint lingering through the air.

I have recieved a phone call from HomeSense telling me that I start on Monday. I am a little disappointed because I would have liked to start this week. Last night we went to a thing called Soupfest. It is organised by 'The Rock' (Not the wrestler. it is a youth centre) to raise money. You pay $8 to get in and there is soup from many of the restaurants in the area. It was quite fun, but VERY busy. Jane Ann knew EVERYONE there. Margaret and Joe were there aswell. It was nice to see them again. One of the soups I ate had alligator in it. It tasted like pea and ham soup. All of the soups were nice, but as a general rule soup is not my favorite food. The desire to chew is too great.

I saw a sign the other day at a second hand store down the road from where I live saying that they would be closed this morning to film a tv show. I wandered down to have a look. There were people doing stuff inside but I didn't see much. How disappointing!

Helen, your writings for the last journal were FANTASTIC! (although it is very unfortunate about what happened to Mum and Dads car.)

This weekend I think we are going to the Science centre in Toronto. I am quite excited about this. There is a display there that has a whole whack of plastinated bodies doing all sorts of different things. That should be very interesting.

Have people looked at my photos? Simon is the only one to have commented on ANY of them, (very funny comments). I would have thought more as some of them are a little difficult to interpret. I will put photos of my house up soon.

Ok, hope everyone is having fun. Have a good Australia Day tommorrow! I will be wearing my Australia tattoos lovingly sent to me by my friends proudly (maybe I'll do a mosaic type of thing all over my face) Have fun!

Hi, Susan. There have been a few bushfires in the south-west and Helen said the smoke was quite thick when she and Ebony were driving down to Busselton on Tuesday morning, but the heavy rain over the last couple of days has helped a lot. Today is beautiful, clear and mild and the humidity is gone. We got back home in Helen's hire car yesterday morning (ie Wed.). It was a bit of a squash and Ted had to leave a few of his car things behind at the caravan park for Roger to pick up when he and Janet come up to Perth early next week (Emma is returning from Darwin). We were so very lucky that the car caught fire when and where it did - on a wide, empty bitumen area outside a row of shops in central Busselton, after we had unpacked our stuff. You can imagine that things could have been so different. We got a lift back to the caravan park in the back of the fire truck! On Tuesday Helen took us all to Margaret River, where she knows all the local haunts. We had lunch on the balcony of the local bakery. It was pouring with rain and the scenery was very pictuesque. Anyway, I have written a diary as promised and will send it to you soon. Ted wants me to tell you that he is putting up new guttering. He says people are writing about everything else on your journal. Bye for now. XX

I wonder if Venus fly traps have a desire to chew.
