Colosseum without snow, November

Colosseum without snow, November

The problem with budget air-fares is the lay-overs.  But they aren't all bad, either.  Munich to Buenos Aires - more on that in a later story - meant a 23-hour layover in Rome.  It hardly seems possible that I was saying "Guten Tag" on Monday, "Buon giorno" yesterday and "Buenos dias" today.

        "Shoulder Season"crowds at the Colosseum

Loyal readers of this site may recall that it snowed when we were in Rome in February and the Colosseum was closed for three consecutive days.  But yesterday - I actually had to check the calendar to make sure that it was yesterday - we visited the Roman icon.  Rome is crowded even in November and we can't imagine what it would be like in the summer.  It took us 30 minutes just to get to the ticket booth!  I can't say I was overly impresse but now we have ticked off all of the sites in Rome.
