Today we go into
downtown Chicago for the first time since we’ve been here. Apparently parking
is expensive, so we hop on a train and 30mins later we're walking past those steps from The Untouchables at Chicago Union Station.
We’re meeting up with our friend Ramata who we know from
London. Fortunately she is living in Chi-town for the summer - another Londoner with itchy feet. We meet up at
Macy’s and stroll down the magnificent 'Michigan Ave' mile, passing all the shops and catching
glimpses of Lake Michigan.
The Michigan Sea would be a better name for it. It is huge. I know it's a Great Lake and all that jazz but that doesn't stop you looking at it and wondering why you can't see the other side - I mean it's a lake right? Well kind of. It actually measures over 22,000 square miles, which makes it 2.5 times the size of New Jersey, and nearly 10 times the size of Delaware. Like I said, it's huge.
We catch up with Ramata
over a meal at the cheesecake factory. I eat so much, I’m forced to take my
cheesecake to go!
We attempt to walk off our bloated stomachs by browsing around the city. Clearly, this does involve having a look in a few clothing shops, Rich loves it.
No he doesn't.
