There and Back Again The continuing travels of me

Bike Town and Umeda walk

The weekend just gone was a long weekend, we had monday off. I have another seminar on Thursday and a meeting Friday afternoon, so there's not much time left for work.

Saturday I took my bike for an oil change at Hiruma-sensei's fathers shop. He invited me to come for a ride with him and his friends on December 7, sounds good.

Sunday I went to Tokyo to do some more shopping, I bought handle warmers and a fog shield for my helmet. It rained Monday so I got to test them out, I'm pretty happy with the results. My insulated pants sprang a leak though, I got a wet crotch, not great. I don't know if I just hadn't sealed the fly properly though. Maybe I should get dressed and pour water over my groin, might cause some questions amongst the staff and students though.

On Monday I rode out to Umeda and saw Galen, we hiked up a hill behind his place, it was pretty nice, but raining. There's a lot of trails around where he lives, so I'm looking forward to going back for another walk when the weather is better and I'm not wearing bike boots (it was really slippery).

There's a few photos, but they were from my phone, so sorry about the quality.

This afternoon I'm going to Shogakko to teach grade 3 ad 4 kids about body parts. We're doing a work sheet called 'my monster' where they draw a monster and talk about how many eyes or legs or whatever it has. It wasn't actually my idea, but I did get to draw up a cool little work sheet with a couple of monsters on it, any excuse to draw monsters is fine by me.

I may extend the exercise to talk about families as well. Then they can draw a whole monster family...by which I mean I can draw a whole monster family, you know, as an example.

Last day of Sem/Year today and as you can imagine, very busy as students hand in last-minute bits. Yesterday we were told that DMA Moorabbin will no longer operate. Sis Pauline & some teachers may be out of work unless something opens up - Pauline is OK tho' as she can take a package with no restrictions - probably best option. Craig has taken extended leave till at lest next April, so lots of changes for 2009! Hope you're well ......
