Yesterday was ALT day at Umeda JHS. Galen is the ALT there, he is the drummer from the band I saw the other week.
His plan for the day was to do a music theme, so he came up with Hip Hop day. We were asked to dress as Hip Hop or Rap musicians and help the students come up with simple rhymes in English to perform in front of the class. What can I say, I did my best to perform my professional duties as a responsible adult should.
It seemed destined for failure to me, but in the end it was kind of fun (or funny at least) and worked out ok. It was surprising how easy my bike gear turned into more or less appropriate rap artist clothing. But we were all kind of lame.
Fortunately in a class full of Japanese kids in the countryside who barely understand English it didn't really matter.
There are photos somewhere, but I don't have any and won't be upset if I never see them.
If they turn up I will in the interest of full disclosure share them on the blog.
There's another fesitval on at the moment, celebrating the God Ebisu. It was last night and tonight, I didn't go last night, so I should make the effort to go tonight. It's just another excuse for eating a lot of food and wandering around the streets that are closed to traffic, but it breaks the monotony.
November is more than half over, I can't believe it is nearly December, before you know it January will be here and I'll be back home for 2 weeks.
I bought an electric hotplate, yesterday, I had the cooking gas canceled since I barely used it. The monthly connection fees were 1785 yen, the hotplate cost 3995 yen, so in abot 2 and a half months it will have paid for itself. Electricity is free for me since I'm on the school's connection.
I bought some Aussie beef last night, I can see a steak sandwich in my near future.
