uuuuuuuuuuuurgh!!! I wake up with the worst sore throat and cough.. Its the damn fans/change of climate as it is colder at night up here.. and the dirt from Bangkok.. I get up and get down the the chemist where I get some antibiotics and cough syrup- don't wana be ill on the boat!
Getting back I pack my bag up ready to head out to the caves which i think are around an hour away north. Its 1 straight road outta the city on the map, but we'll see how easy it really is..
Its very easy and I'm enjoying the drive.... Getting into 1 of the towns I'm pulled over by the police, crap I have no helmet on and I don't want a 500B fine- He must of been in a good mood, cos he just tells me to put on my helmet and I can drive off?! thhhhanks!
The drive is SO long and on some winding roads, bit like Phuket so its nothing I'm not used to, there are even parts of the road that are just freezing in the shade?
Finally get some gas, I was freeking out I wouldn't find any in time.. Also grab a coffee- feeling a bit worn out after that drive.
Get onto the road of the caves and notice a cafe and decide to stop for some food- Not spicey enough damn it!! haha, it wasn't the as pad kaprow, pork was a bit over cooked, but it did the trick. I get to the caves, park up and walk on over. Its beautiful and I take some time to wonder around the grounds, take some photos and that :-) you can tell its very old, alot of ruins and that.
The caves were good, and I'm stunned at how many Buddhas there are in the walls, as far as the eye can see- I wonder around taking it all in- Get to the 2nd part and I'm being told I have to pay 100B for the next part of the cave when I've already paid 40B for my ticket? Forget it- I saw enough... I get outside, go for a quick pee and head on the road...
GEEEZE this was a far drive, my bum is SO sore.. But i get back, and manage to find the way back ok..
Rock up and the hostel and dye my hair and with no gloves, so my fingers are just black.. haha
Find Dom, have a beer and we hatch a plan to actually DRIVE to Pai on scoots! Its possible, but it can take upto 5hours as the roads are SO twisty- Check it on the map, zoom in on google maps and you would think a child has scribbled everywhere- it just looks crazy.. I'm sooo excited for this daft adventure. We decide to leave our bags in storage here in the hostel and just take day packs so less to carry obviously... We'll stay there for 3nights and come back, collect the bags and head to the boarder cross.. There are a few others at the hostel going to Pai tomorrow so we'll catch up with them and we're all staying in the same hostel, so it'll be good to catch up with them. Shame we're gona miss the regaee festival.. But I still haven't seen the actual city which I'm gona do tomorrow..
Just gona do some temple viewing here in the city tomorrow..... looking forward to a walk and a bit of a shop perhaps?:)
