Bill's Big Trip "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." John Lennon

TURKEY | Sunday, 10 Aug 2014 | Views [309]

I spent three days in the Cappadocia area of Turkey. Really amazing rock formations called fairy chimneys. Many of the chimneys have caves carved into them that are hundreds of years old. I did a lot of hiking, a little mountain biking and took my first ... Read more >

Turkey

TURKEY | Saturday, 2 Aug 2014 | Views [356]

Turkey is more up to date, more expensive and a lot hotter than I thought it would be. It's been over 100 every day. I try to do something in the morning, hunker down in the afternoon and enjoy the evenings. So far I've visited a two ruins and traveled ... Read more >

My island hopping is coming to an end. I've got a 1 am boat to Kos island later today, from there it's about an hour ferry ride to Turkey. I visited three islands in nine days, Sifnos, Paros and Santorini. All were very nice with beaches, bars, restaurants ... Read more >

Frequent Flyer Miles

GREECE | Monday, 28 Jul 2014 | Views [392] | Comments [1]

Something I should have written at the beginning of the trip was the use of frequent flyer miles to help finance the trip. I accrued a good portion of the miles by using the Delta American Express card. I took advantage of the 30,000 mile bonus and no ... Read more >

First off South America was a blast. Good people good food and great scenery. I spent a lot of time on buses, not a bad way to travel. So much more to see, i'll be back. Air travel still amazes me. I went from winter to summer and a totally different ... Read more >

Buenos Aires Argentina

ARGENTINA | Thursday, 17 Jul 2014 | Views [495]

Buenos Aires is a big city. Some say there are 13 million people in the area. As you walk the streets, every few seconds you hear someone saying cambio, cambio, cambio. it's a black market money exchange. In retrospect maybe I should've taken advantage ... Read more >

About lipowcan8

A quick recap. I visited 19 countries in 212 days, traveled 46,000 miles by air,15,000 miles by land and spent about $25,000. My feet got beat up a few times and I twisted my ankle a couple of times. No plane, train, car, bus, tuk tuk or taxi mishaps, not even a fender bender. I wasn't threatened or harassed and amazingly enough I didn't lose anything. It's hard to believe seven months have passed. As I said in my first entry.....a wonderful way to celebrate 60 years of living. It sure was!
