Bill's Big Trip "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." John Lennon

Greek Islands

My island hopping is coming to an end. I've got a 1 am boat to Kos island later today, from there it's about an hour ferry ride to Turkey. I visited three islands in nine days, Sifnos, Paros and Santorini. All were very nice with beaches, bars, restaurants and beautiful scenery. It was pretty pricey and crowded, I guess it is the height of the tourist season. The trip didn't start out very well, I got off the boat at the wrong island. I'm walking around town asking people for directions to my hotel, that's when I found out I was on Serifos not Sifnos. As screw ups go this one turned out pretty well. It cost me four hours and $10 to get to the right Island. I'm not much for laying on the beach, I did a lot of walking around and rented a scooter on Sifnos and Paros Island. The scooters are a good deal $20 for a 24 hour rental. It was a fun way to explore the islands.

If I had it to do over again I probably would spend two nights on each island instead of three. I took a lot of pictures, truly spectacular scenery.

About lipowcan8

A quick recap. I visited 19 countries in 212 days, traveled 46,000 miles by air,15,000 miles by land and spent about $25,000. My feet got beat up a few times and I twisted my ankle a couple of times. No plane, train, car, bus, tuk tuk or taxi mishaps, not even a fender bender. I wasn't threatened or harassed and amazingly enough I didn't lose anything. It's hard to believe seven months have passed. As I said in my first entry.....a wonderful way to celebrate 60 years of living. It sure was!
