Bill's Big Trip "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." John Lennon

Athens Greece

First off South America was a blast. Good people good food and great scenery. I spent a lot of time on buses, not a bad way to travel. So much more to see, i'll be back.

Air travel still amazes me. I went from winter to summer and a totally different culture flying from from Buenos Aires to Athens in about 12 hours.

I'm not sure, but so far I think I 've been targeted for theft two times. The first time was getting off a bus in South America I found my backpack zipper had been pulled open. I have a lock on it so it will only open about 3 inches. No damage, my iPad was safe. The other time happened just a few days ago. I was taking the tram from the Athens airport into town. The tram was pretty crowded. This guy picks up my suitcase and moves it  towards the center of the tram saying it'll be better over there. No no no. It's a lot easier to be vulnerable when your wiped out from lack of sleep. Anyhow so far so good.

I've enjoyed my five nights in Athens, even got my laundry done. I'm trying not to be repetitive, but I've got to say the folks I have met here are very kind. I have enjoyed seeing the historical sites and also took the trolley to the beach/shops for one day. i'll let the pictures tell the story, it's truly remarkable the structures have been here for over 2000 years. The last three nights I have eaten at the same restraunt, great Greek salad. Night 1 had pork chops and salad. night 2 gyros (bad spelling). Night 3 chicken kabobs and salad. I'll probably go back tonight, the beer is cold  and at a reasonable price.

Tomorrow I'm off to the Greek Islands. Three islands, 9 nights, four boat trips and the plan is to end up in southern Turkey. Enough for now, thank you for interest the special thanks to those folks who have commented. Your input is appreciated.

About lipowcan8

A quick recap. I visited 19 countries in 212 days, traveled 46,000 miles by air,15,000 miles by land and spent about $25,000. My feet got beat up a few times and I twisted my ankle a couple of times. No plane, train, car, bus, tuk tuk or taxi mishaps, not even a fender bender. I wasn't threatened or harassed and amazingly enough I didn't lose anything. It's hard to believe seven months have passed. As I said in my first entry.....a wonderful way to celebrate 60 years of living. It sure was!
