Where in the world is Lani?

I have to say that the biggest challenge for me whilst travelling South America has not been my lack of language skills, has not been my dislike of some of the food choices and has not been my lack of knowledge of how to ride on public transport. 

It has (without a doubt) been the challenge of saying goodbye to some of the most wonderful people I have met in my lifetime. In every place I have visited, from bustling Buenos Aires in Argentina to the chilled out beach city of Floripa in Brazil - I have met some of the most amazing people who I have been lucky to spend some time with. From Aussie expats who are so happy to hear a familiar accent, to me communicating in broken Spanish to mates that only speak Portuguese (I dont know how we did it!) - my life has become much richer for meeting these new friends.

At present, I am visiting my best friend from Buenos Aires, Caina from Porto Alegre in Brazil. She has opened up her house and heart to me and I feel like I never want to leave! After here I will travel back to Sao Paulo, a city I didnt really appreciate first time round to meet up with friends I made in Floripa. They have arranged a week of the highlights of their city including capoeria in the park, a trip to the countryside, the best place to shop and some wonderful restaurants!

One things for sure, I have replaced saying 'goodbye' to saying 'see you soon' as i´ll definitely be back here and when I return to Australia I will be needing a guest bedroom in my place to accomodate my lovely group of international friends. The other important thing I have realised is how much I miss all my wonderful Aussie friends back home. How lucky am I to have such beautiful people in my life! Love to all my old and new mates around the world.
