Unfortunately during the 50's the camp was not well preserved and so most of the camp was left in ruins.

Neutral land. . Where if a prisoner stepped onto the gravel.. they were shot dead immediately. It's said that the first person who was ever killed in the concentration camp was by an SS guard who threw the prisoners hat onto the gravel then told him to go pick it up, the prisoner could either say no and be beaten slowly to death. . Or walk onto the gravel and be shot straight away.

This area was known as 'station Z'. Where prisoners were killed in masses. . The rooms started on the right of the photo where people would go to a waiting room and be told they were having a medical procedure.. they would then go through a series of rooms and Check ups. in the last room their height was measure.. then the guard would push a button sending a message to the guard in the room next door, where he would open a small Window and shoot the prisoner dead. They were then moved into the next room where their bodies were burnt, 3-4 bodies in the ovens at once and later on in the years up to 9 bodies would be piled on top of each other for burning. Most of the SS guards were between 17 and 20 years old, all trained at the camp. When they didn't want to be guards anymore they were allowed to walk away as the camp did not want to have guards who had doubts about what they were doing.
