With the weather continuing to be miserable we decided on a museum day – and there are some great ones here. Museum Island is right near where we are staying and we went the Neues Museum and the Alte National Galerie. The Neues Museum (new) was a really interesting building as it had been badly damaged and then rebuilt after the War - but they have tried to keep the character of both the old building and the destruction. Some of the inside walls look a bit pock marked – the result of much shooting. It contents were historical collections with their star attraction being the bust of Nerertiti. The Alte National Galerie was all art and sculpture with some well known names but mainly German artists. Wandered down Friedrichstraße Strasse for dinner.
