Caught the subway downtown and then the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We did the audio tours on each island and learnt lots about the history of the statue, and immigration into the country (which was via Ellis Island in their main immigration period). After that we headed off to the 9/11 Memorial, which was very well done. As Tuesday is free day we are going back when the queues are not so bad for the Tribute centre. Wandered along Wall St and also through Trinity Church which was beautiful, and is of "National Treasure" fame. On our way home we stopped at the New York Library which was a lovely old building with many interesting rooms, but my favourite was the Map Room!
