Happy 4th of July was the catch cry all day. We started the day at the "Top of the Rock" and then did the Rockefeller centre tour. This is the place of the famous lunch scene of the workers on the beam up in the air. The view was magnificent as it was a beautiful clear day, and the tour was interesting. We then went off for a bike tour of Central Park and saw many pretty places and interesting buildings, including the Ghostbusters building where the marshmallow man was, where Mary Tyler Moore lives and has red-tailed Hawks nesting, strawberry fields where there is usually someone singing Beatles songs and much more. We lost Hayley but she managed to get around without us - luckily. Our guide was "Billy the Kidd" - yes, it was the actual actor who played the character in "Bill &Ted's Excellent Adventure". He is now partially retired and does the tours for fun!! Then we headed off to the Fireworks on the east river to celebrate the national holiday, and they were excellent. Our view was good in spite of the huge crowds. Was very impressed with the way the Americans manage large crowds.
