Happy birthday to Jade and Tracy ! Today we explored the temples of Siam Reap, visiting Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre in the morning. After a bit of lunch (and excellent meal at the New Hope training restaurant) we went to Angkor Wat. All the temples were really interesting, with so much history. Angkor Wat was the biggest of three and rivals Notre Dame for the time it was built and the importance of the structure. Ian was in his element wandering all over the place. Cambodia itself is fascinating in many aspects and i have gleaned a few facts
* fried crickets are actually edible - doesnt mean that I will queue for them thogh, but we both tried them
*there are no rules for driving, but it is all done politely and with not too much speed so you feels `reasonably` safe
*dont ever volunteer to be an electrician here. I have never seen more dangerous wiring anywhere
*the rivers are scary - stick to bottled water in a big way
*there are many shops by the roadside and at this time of year they are all covered in dust - which is probably better than being in the mud during the wet
The temperature was warm, but quite humid, and i have not drunk so much water in one day before ever i dont think.
