Today we leave Florence. Loved this city. Off to Pisa for the day. Pisa has neither the age of Rome or the charm of Florence but we had a nice visit. You are not allowed any bags up the tower so that meant we had to be separated from our money, tickets & passports which was a bit of a worry but all was ok. The tower was quite creepy. You could really feel the lean as you walked up alternating from leaning in to leaning out as you wound round the 300 odd steps each way. The view from the top was pretty but you were always aware that you were on an angle. It feels like it should topple over - but thankfully it didn't with us on it. We picked up our luggage at the rail station and headed to Vernazza, one of the five towns of Cinque Terra. I am starting to be a little over superlatives but this place is stunning. We have a room on the fourth (sort of) floor that you get to via a staircase, that if the light goes out you are left in pitch black! But we have a balcony!! It is brilliant. For tea we wandered down to the cutest little harbour and dined with the best view.
